The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  Position Summary

  Reporting directly to the Director of Budget and Human Resources in the Office of the General Counsel, the Contracts Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring successful and appropriate preparation and execution of a range of healthcare-related agreements of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), including but not limited to, physician/provider services, medical director services, locum tenons, laboratory services, clinical consulting, NDA's, and MOU's.

  Responsibilities

  The successful candidate will handle agreements in accordance with all applicable regulatory and legal requirements and institutional policies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  Draft, negotiate, execute and manage healthcare related agreements in accordance with applicable law and institutional policies and procedures and ensuring that contracts meet all of the appropriate legal, internal operating procedures, and operational obligations in collaboration with internal stakeholders; Ensure timely review and negotiation of agreements with special attention to deadlines, and time-sensitive requests;Monitor agreements for compliance with contractual requirements and timely execute amendments as needed;Develop instructions for use of contracts and preparation of support documentation;Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures designed to ensure that all agreements are in compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulations;Ability to research, interpret and communicate complex issues to all levels of staff;Maintain industry-specific knowledge;Maintain an up-to-date digital archive of agreements, legal correspondence, and other records for tracking and auditing purposes;Ability to make decisions that are guided by precedents, policies and objectives;Participate in cross functional meetings and internal ad hoc groups to address contracting issues, communicate status of negotiations and document key financial and legal term;Consistently, with others (including Department and Division administrators), evaluates core processes for redesign opportunities to improve operations, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, enhance service and improve performance; and Other duties and projects as assigned by the Office of the General Counsel.Minimum Qualifications

  A Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of 5 years of related contract/project management experience.Ability to work independently.Proficient with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.Proven drafting and negotiation expertise.Superior verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with conflicting deadline pressures and competing priorities.Preferred Qualifications

  A juris doctorate degree from an accredited school of law with the ability to practice in New York a plus.Prior experience in or for an academic medical center or healthcare setting and/or with physicians, hospitals, Medicare and Medicaid, and federal and state healthcare regulatory issues, including fraud and abuse, the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and HIPAA/HITECH.Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid/work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
