Pay Range: $170000 - 195000 / year
Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager the candidate will manage Pre-construction, Construction, Testing/Integration/Close Out of Rail Systems projects.
Manages and grows current market share and profitability by recognizing and taking advantage of industry trends and market opportunities.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Manage day to day operations of LK Comstock National Transit.
• Establishes railroad and other relevant industry contacts necessary to be aware of potential railroad construction projects, specifically Traction Electrification, Automated Train Control and Communications/SCADA Systems.
• Will oversee and direct our Field supervision in our implementation improvement and enhancement of our safety program, safety statistics, and safety culture.
• Reviews all agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders to ensure accuracy and that they are managed and executed effectively.
• Implements effective techniques for monitoring progress toward project completion.
• Analyzes construction costs and all cost related components to maximize profitability, ensure accurate projections and timely completion.
• Responsible for seeing that work is properly scheduled and allocated and that personnel, equipment and materials are adequate to meet schedules while ensuring customer satisfaction at all times.
• Insures, through supervision, the receipt of new materials, supplies and maintenance items necessary to complete projects
• Knows all construction assets (including location and condition) to ensure optimum utilization of systems construction equipment and vehicles
• Properly evaluates and justifies expenditures for new equipment, tools and machinery.
• When necessary, works with Project Manager to secure appropriate subcontractors to assist in construction projects.
• Insures that project budgets are established and maintains conformance to budgetary limitations.
• Establishes, in consultation with Project Management, Group financial and accounting department, the appropriate financial data collection and reporting processes to effectively manage project cost and profitability.
• In consultation with the quality officer, develops, maintains and utilizes quality policies, procedures and methods to insure customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of services.
• Makes recommendations to improve financial performance by process improvements, and developing new services to increase revenue or reduce expenses.
• Will provide annual employee reviews with Goals & Objectives for direct reports with emphasis on real time feedback.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering
• A degree may be substituted with 10 years’ experience in the Railroad Systems construction industry
• Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience
• Strong business financial acumen, analytical thinking with well-developed communication and influencing skills.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication skills with field personnel.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Works in an office environment with visits to customer and project locations
• During Construction spends significant amount of time in field, requires walking long distances daily in varying weather conditions.
• Frequently sits for long periods of time
• Frequently speaks, reads, writes and uses a computer keyboard
• May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
