Main Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of pipework for road construction projects
Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to understand the layout and requirements for pipework installation
Measure, cut, and fit pipes according to project specifications and requirements
Collaborate with the construction crew to dig trenches and excavate areas for pipework installation
Assist in the installation of sewer lines, drainage pipes, water mains, and other underground utilities
Operate construction equipment, such as excavators, backhoes, and pipe laying machines, under the supervision of a qualified operator
Assist in the placement and alignment of pipes, ensuring proper slope, grade, and alignment
Connect pipes using various joining methods, such as welding, gluing, or threading, following industry standards and regulations
Assist in testing and inspecting pipework to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pipework as needed
Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and the team
Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and hours worked
Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met
Education
High School diploma/GED Skills
Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record
Proven experience working as a road construction laborer, with specific experience in pipework installation
Familiarity with different types of pipes, fittings, and joining methods
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Follow all DOT and company safety regulations
OSHA 10 Hour Certification
Environment
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Frequent exposure to loud noise
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
