Starting Hiring Range: $14.26 - 17.46, hourly
Under general supervision, this position assists with scheduled events at the Midlothian Conference Center and maintenance of the building. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job FunctionsResponsible for set up and tear down of all events at the Midlothian Conference Center by moving tables and chairs; prepares the auditorium, hallways and conference rooms as requested for special events. Performs custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors. Responsible for cleaning and restocking kitchen and bathrooms as well as maintaining inventory of custodial equipment. Responsible for assisting clients with any requests or needs in a professional manner. Responsible for regular attendance and arriving to work on time.
Education and ExperienceA high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Two (2) years event set up, minor maintenance or housekeeping experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe following is required and must be possessed by incumbent:
Knowledge of general building maintenance and maintenance methods, procedures, tools, equipment, supplies, materials and safety practices.Skilled in using broom, mop, vacuum, chair dolly, floor polisher, etc.Ability to learn a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.Ability to prioritize work and multi-task to include problem solving.Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.Ability to communicate in a clear, effective, and concise manner, both orally and in writing.Ability to follow instructions, safety practices, procedures, and perform work accurately and thoroughly which requires performing multiple tasks simultaneously under time pressures and deadlines.Ability to allocate and utilize limited resources in a cost-effective manner.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all people.Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly.Special RequirementsMust be able to work nights, weekends, special events, and be available for call-ins.

Work EnvironmentWork is primarily performed in a climate-controlled setting. Work requires physical stamina for continuous standing and physical exertion. Job requires frequent lifting and moving objects up to 30 lbs., extensive bending and stooping, and occasional climbing. Continuous physical exertion, requiring muscular effort with resulting fatigue of arms, back, legs, or sensory facilities. Work involves frequent exposure to cleaning solutions and chemicals.
