This role supports the Office of Fair and Responsible Banking’s (OFRB) Advisory function by providing team leadership and subject matter expertise across one or more business units and associated product sets. The Compliance Team Lead Advisory will lead the OFRB’s use of reporting, data analysis, and monitoring of this subject matter to inform relevant stakeholders across both first- and second-line teams. The candidate will work closely with, and report to, the Fair Banking Program Director. The role has primary responsibility for delivery of periodic Fair Banking and UDAAP monitoring of assigned business lines and/or products. Functions of this monitoring may include deposit product, loan and marketing reviews, policy & procedure reviews and risk assessments with intent to identify procedural gaps, potential discrimination, potential unfair or deceptive practices and any enhancements that may be needed. Additional responsibilities include engaging with key business line and risk stakeholders to convey monitoring results and opine on new initiatives or changes thereof. Will be leading teams who must deliver timely reporting and escalating identified risks to Compliance management as necessary. This role will also be integral in the collection of due diligence and/or leading discussions on operational processes associated with their teams pre- and post- regulatory examinations.
The duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Leading UDAAP / Fair Lending monitoring primarily through interpretation and analysis of loan and deposit account data.
Leading the analysis, trending, and reporting of data related to business line practices to identify fair banking risks
Drafting clear and concise reports to communicate the results of ongoing business line and product monitoring to Compliance, 1LOD Risk and Business management.
Acting as a Subject Matter Expert and Advisor regarding fair lending, fair banking/UDAAP compliance risks for OFRB covered units.
Implementing and continued oversight of the second line of defense UDAAP monitoring program, including recommending changes and enhancements to processes where necessary.
Developing relationships with key stakeholders and informing management of significant compliance matters that require their attention or action.
Coordinating the execution of core compliance activities related to the development of new products and the risk assessments thereof.
Staying current of the regulatory environment and expectations through discussions with peers, seminars, webinars, roundtables, law firms, bankers’ associations, etc.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of fair banking or other related consumer compliance experience in a management capacity within a consumer financial services or a regulatory environment.
Working knowledge of both technical and nuanced aspects of Fair Banking laws and regulations with an emphasis on fair lending and UDAAP principles, including but not limited to ECOA/Reg B, Reg Z, FHA, SCRA, MLA, ADA, FCRA, CRA and Redlining.
Computer proficiency, specifically MS Office, with an emphasis on creation of formula-based Excel templates.
Prior use of data analysis software systems such as Risk Exec, CRA \ HMDA Wiz or CRA \ HMDA Relief product lines.
Must be proactive with the ability to work independently and deliver superior results.
Critical thinking and the ability to "connect the dots" of multiple data points across multiple business units to develop a comprehensive assessment of fair banking risk.
Strong communication skills with an ability to convey complex topics and recommendation (written, verbal and listening).
Leader who can build rapport and manage colleagues (5-7) to time sensitive deadlines in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Education:
