Summary This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), DoD OIG - MISSION SUPPORT TEAM. Responsibilities Provides compensation support by reviewing, troubleshooting, and analyzing a wide range of pay setting and compensation. Research regulations and policies pertaining to the full range of compensation areas. Utilizes various HR databases and systems to review, troubleshoot and analyze a wide range of pay transaction problems. Resolves pay issues by tracing transactions to determine cause and recommend corrective action. Adheres to privacy act and advises others on safeguarding information protected under the privacy act. Performs a variety of human resource functions in support of compensation, timekeeping and pay systems. Monitors and reviews changes in DoD and government-wide policy in compensation, timekeeping and pay systems. Incumbent is responsible to provide continuity and support to Lead IG employees, in the areas of compensation, data systems, payroll and timekeeping. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-08) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Knowledge of and skill in applying civilian pay and compensation laws, regulations, policies and practices. Knowledge of and skill in applying research and analytical techniques to gather, document and analyze information to develop accurate guidance. Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written methods. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.
