Description:

　　Overview

　　Candidates MUST be comfortable with breeding animals for research, and euthanasia. CMS I candidates provide husbandry to laboratory animals, maintain animal inventory records and Animal Husbandry and Room Maintenance Records, and perform facility sanitation in animal facilities. Work schedules are assigned by the Facility Manager or his/her designee for that specific animal facility. This position requires weekend and holiday work hours and involves daily exposure to laboratory animals and their waste products. Candidates will spend the majority of their time working within animal modules - rooms housing animals/cages. Candidates will primarily be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of animals' habitat (cages), and following strict protocols to ensure animals are available for research.

　　Monday-Friday from 7:00a-3:30p

　　Weekends required every 6-8 weeks (candidates MUST be open to working weekends every 6-8 weeks)

　　Additional Skills & Qualifications:

　　MUST have animal handling experience and comfortable working with mice and rats and, if needed, various other animals - Worked with animals in a medical setting - Must be able to move 50lbs. on a regular basis - • CMS role is manually intensive (i.e. cleaning cages, lifting bags of food, dawning and duffing PPE, walking halls, etc.)

　　• CMS role requires candidates follow strict protocols at all times

　　• RTP site has brand new state of the art cage washing facility and free parking. Consultants at RTP site will work cage washing longer than those hired for University site.
