The Community Engagement Specialist has responsibility for developing and executing effective strategies to increase the awareness of and engagement of girl and adults in Girl Scouting in underrepresented communities in San Diego County.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Develops and implements membership and engagement strategies to support council strategic goals for girl and adult membership in assigned areas.
Utilizes quantitative and qualitative data including membership trends and market data to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for assigned areas.
Facilitates the use of identified engagement models to build authentic relationships in communities where Girl Scouts San Diego is underrepresented.
Generates and follows up on new leads and partnerships resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.
Works interdepartmentally to apply and share information gathered from community-based work to support or inform strategies to effectively engage adults and grow awareness of Girl Scout opportunities.
Cultivates and maintains relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, businesses and faith-based organizations to increase awareness of and engagement with Girl Scouts San Diego, ultimately leading to membership growth in assigned areas.
As needed, facilitates the curation or development of content in languages needed for targeted communities, including marketing, program, and training materials. Maintains an inventory of these materials and ensures awareness and distribution to appropriate council staff.
Provides program support to new or prospective members by leading introductory troop meetings, starter troops, or similar activity, enabling volunteers to take over and successfully implement Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Maintains working knowledge of council programs, resources, and procedures; serve as a resource for volunteers and member
Performs additional duties as assigned to assist in the fulfillment of the council’s mission and goals.

At least two (2) years’ experience in sales, membership recruiting or related areas.
Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred.
Knowledge of communities and resources/contacts/services in San Diego County, preferred.
Ability to cultivate, foster, maintain, and manage relationships and network effectively with diverse individuals, communities, and organizations.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to present information to various audiences and communities.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to work well under pressure and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions; effective time management skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to establish and maintain priorities and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and exceptional follow-through and follow-up skills.
Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel is required.

The salary range for this position is $21.00 - $22.50 per hour
