The Food Bank is seeking aCommunity Engagement Organizer to develop and implement a new program toshift public policy decision-making power to people with livedexperience of hunger and poverty and to train community members toadvocate for effective policies that address food insecurity and itsunderlying causes. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTSAssociates Degree or equivalent; extensive experience counts towarddegree 2-4 years of experience with community, small groupcollaboration, and/or coalition building. Very strong written and verbalcommunication skills, including the ability to present information tosmall and large groups succinctly, clearly, and professionally and theability to communicate effectively with others in person, on the phone,by email, and by social media Computer skills including: o Ability toedit and format professional documents including memos, reports, andletters o Ability to input, manipulate, and format data, and to read andunderstand spreadsheets o Ability to conduct online research Strongdiplomatic, motivational, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated strongorganizational and time management skills Ability to work well within ateam and to be flexible in a changing environment Ability to travelthroughout Western MA with reliable transportation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Developand implement plans to engage cohorts of community members withlived/living experience of poverty to raise public awareness about foodinsecurity and its underlying causes through advocacy. Create andimplement a grassroots advocacy training program for these communityengagement teams. Engage the community cohorts to participate in theannual development of the Food Bank\'s public policy priorities. Executelocal and/or state advocacy campaigns in collaboration with communityengagement teams Support members of the community engagement teams withongoing outreach with legislators, decision makers and others with livedexperience of poverty. Collaborate with the Public Policy Manager, theFood Bank advocacy committee, community engagement teams, and statewidepartners to help develop and carry out the Food Bank\'s advocacystrategies at the state and federal level.
