  JOB SUMMARY

  The UConn Library seeks a forward-thinking and analytical Collections Strategist (Librarian 3). Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Collections and Discovery, the Collections Strategist conceives, communicates, and implements strategies to analyze, build, and steward UConn Library collections.

  The main 4,400-acre campus is set in a university town located in the heart of Connecticut, approximately a half-hours drive from Hartford, 90 minutes from Boston, and 3 hours from New York City.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  Collaboratesacross the UConn community and with external organizations to develop, maintain, and assess the strategies that the UConn Library uses for collection development,including determining acquisition models, formats, criteria, and partnerships.Identifies and develops inter-and intra-institutional benchmarks to evaluate and identify strategic directions in collection management, assists in allocating and managing collections funds, and ensures that these funds are aligned with broader collection strategies.Reinforces and applies the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice (DEIAJ) in collection development and supporting work.Develops operational solutions in support of holistic collections strategies.Identifiesopportunities for innovation within metadata management.Usesadvanced professional knowledgebase and skillset to proactivelyidentifyand resolve critical needsas related to the position, serving as a subject matter expert to others.Shared Expectations for All Staff

  Applies the principles of the Library's core values and Strategic Framework through active contribution and cooperation in achieving Area and Unit priorities and operational goals.Demonstrates reliable and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrates active learning in and communication of ongoing trends and developments related to professional and positional responsibilities.Works effectively in current applications, software, and communic tion tools as employed by the UConn Library and UConn.Exhibits appreciation of, sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse working environment, inclusive of all backgrounds and identifications.Performs duties parallel to position responsibilities as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  A graduate-level degree in a field relevant to the position or a graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution (or international equivalent).?Minimum of six years of post-graduate related professional experience.Evidence of an advanced knowledge level and currency in professional standards, practices, procedures, policies, and technologies as related to strategic collection management.?Clear commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice, and demonstrated ability to make positive contributions to a culture of inclusion and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the University.?Ability to build and maintain successful partnerships in support of position responsibilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with evidence of delivering reliable, effective, and appropriate verbal and written communications.Evidence of active engagement and significant contributions to professional activities at a statewide, regional, and/or national level.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  Proven success with project management.Advanced skill in effective analytical and problem-solving at the individual and group levels.Demonstrated success applying the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and/or justice in a professional setting.Advanced knowledge of emerging trends in scholarly communications and library collection management.Proven success implementing or supporting change in an academic or research library.Demonstrated effectiveness in balancing multiple responsibilities in a complex and dynamic environment.Demonstrated leadership ability.Experience using specialized tools for the analysis of collections (e.g., Alma Analytics, GreenGlass, Tableau).APPOINTMENT TERMS

  This appointment is a full-time position with hybrid schedule options, based in Storrs, Connecticut. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. Salary is dependent upon education, qualifications, and experience.Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
