　　The Position: AmeriCU Credit Union is in search of a Collection Specialist who aligns directly with our mission to provide our members with the right financial services to live life, dream big, and achieve financial success, and our vision to be the most admired organization in every community we serve. As Collection Specialist you will be responsible for supporting the administration and operation of Loan Workout and Recovery policies and programs that support and further the strategic goals and objectives of the Credit Union. Work collaboratively to maintain efficient, professional procedures to achieve the daily workflow, in compliance with all regulations and standards. The delinquency collector's role is to reduce delinquencies/charge off to the lowest possible percentage of outstanding loans. The delinquency collector must ensure that all assigned delinquent accounts are reviewed and contacted as outlined by the collection schedule to minimize the financial risk to the credit union. All work is subject to review and/or audit on a no-notice basis by the Supervisor, Management, Senior Management and/or Internal/External Auditors.

　　What You'll Do:As a Collection Specialist your primary responsibilities will include: Handling several areas of collection assigned to the Loan Workout and Recovery Department, a Collection Specialist may be assigned to one specific product for collection, such as Credit Cards, Mortgages or Member Privilege. When a Collection Specialist is assigned to a specific area, they are responsible for the Primary and Secondary duties, plus duties specific to their area such as Credit Card or Member Privilege Charge Off Preparation, processing, and reporting. Contact and council members who are delinquent in any one of our assigned areas: (Consumer Loans, Mortgages, Credit Cards, Member Privilege) by telephone, mail or e-mail and document the results of each contact. Maintain all notes, communications and documents pertaining to delinquent accounts. Reviews and assigns accounts for voluntary and involuntary repossessions. Review proposals from Credit Counseling agencies and recommend acceptance or denial to manager or designee. Reviews fair share invoices from credit counseling services and sends to Accounting for payment. Recommend accounts for charge off to manager or designee. Maintains various databases and directories / spreadsheets for analysis and tracking. Contact members that have negative shares or returned checks as final effort to collect before accounts are assigned to agency for collection. Evaluate and recommend accounts for legal action to manager or designee. Demonstrate competence in call Fundamentals and Effective Interviewing skills, read and understand a Credit Bureau report and Credit Union Specifics Product Knowledge.
