Role Summary
Responsible for setting and operating CNC / Conventional plant and equipment including conversational CNC machines. Some undertaking of bench dressing duties. Part of a multidisciplinary team achieving performance measures, continuous improvement and first line maintenance objectives.
Core Responsibilities:
§ Set and operate a variety of CNC machines, which could include grinding, EDM, turning, milling or mill/turn configuration etc, including the FMS type equipment.
§ Multi-manning of more than one machine / piece of equipment, where applicable, will be required.
§ This role could also include the setting and operating of conventional machines, where required.
§ Ability to use a range of measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers, diameter gauges, comparators, shop based CMM (Equator), Faro arms etc.
§ Produce first off component of the batch and inspect before proceeding to rest of batch, liaising with CMM inspection where required. For FMS equipment, positional checks may be determined via periodic shop floor CMM or ‘golden part’ verification.
§ Accountable for inspecting and ensuring that all components comply with drawings, and/or layouts.
§ If required, perform dressing of components.
§ Perform tool maintenance as necessary to support lights-out machining and to minimise downtime of equipment.
Skills, Knowledge & Attributes
§ A good standard of general education is required.
§ An engineering apprenticeship is desirable, although training will be given.
§ 2 years similar experience in an engineering manufacturing facility making a similar product.
§ Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
§ The ability to use inspection equipment associated with this role is essential.
§ Good computer skills are desirable, as is a knowledge of the computer systems used (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc).
§ Knowledge of Mazak, Fanuc and Siemens machine controllers is desirable .
