ATHOL FIRST & SECOND SHIFT OPENINGS CNC Operator Job Summary: Perform anormal range of turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, facing andsimilar machining operations on single or multiple spindle automatics orCNC controlled machines to produce a variety of parts composed ofmaterials such as: steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.Setups in the main are exacting but not difficult requiring the changingof collets, feeders, pads, guide bushing to accommodate the varioussizes of stock. The CNC machines require downloading the program to themachines. Sequence of operations, cams and tooling are generallyprescribed. Select speeds and feeds within prescribed ranges. Grindtools to meet varying conditions and materials. Mount and clamp tools inthe machine. Position cams in the machine and adjust for proper timingof operations. Adapt standard cams and tools to special and short runjobs. On the CNC machines the operator must follow the instructions onthe cover sheet as to tool grinding requirements and turret location.Tolerances are close on diameters and between shoulders, concentricityand squareness but not difficult to maintain. Detect faulty operation ordefective material and report these and/or any unusual conditions toforeman. Inspect the parts at frequent intervals to assure that theprint specifications are being maintained. Replace or sharpen worn outtools as necessary. Remove the chips from the machine and dispose inproper location. Required to set-up and operate more than one machine.Maintain the machines as required by cleaning, oiling and greasing, etc.Perform all duties in compliance with all safety and health regulations.Perform all other duties required or directed.
