About Clinical Social Worker (A/B)

  The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic clinical social worker to be part of a dedicated team that works with people ages 16-26 enrolled in the Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) program. Coordinated Specialty Care is an internationally recognized evidence-based model that promotes recovery and wellness for people experiencing early psychosis. This is an exciting chance to be part of a select group of programs in the state that can provide this service. The clinician works directly with enrolled young adults by providing evidence-based individual and family therapy, and care coordination services to assigned persons served. The CSC program is an innovative model that allows for protected training time and team meetings, supervision and shared integrated teamwork. This position includes training in the Navigate Model with opportunities to consult with national experts in early psychosis. The primary responsibility is to serve as the primary clinician for a small caseload of assigned persons served and to ensure that interventions are delivered in accordance with the Navigate and CSC models. _Please Note_: This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday;10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with days off on Sunday and Saturday. _Duties and Responsibilities (these are not all inclusive)_: • Serve as the primary clinician for assigned persons served by attending regular team meetings, presenting psychosocial history, mental status, diagnosis, treatment provided, and treatment planned for assigned cases. • Provide Individual Resiliency Training and evidence-based/best-practice modalities as adjunct as needed. • Provide Family education/support, including family therapy and psychoeducation. • Provide care coordination, including assistance with benefits, transportation, and referrals for life domains impacting overall health and wellness. • Develop an Individual Action Plan (IAP) for each person served, including the person served, all CSC team members, and any other supports. • Conduct ongoing assessments, discharge planning, and assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment/recovery goals in conjunction with CSC guidelines. • Ensure documentation compliance with DMH, Joint Commission, and agency standards. • Conduct competency-based, evidence-based assessments using identified screening tools; employ appropriate interventions based on the current presentation and stage of treatment. • Support client and family access to age-appropriate educational and community resources. • Provide culturally and linguistically competent services that are sensitive and responsive to religious practices, sexual orientation, gender differences, physical disabilities, as well as age and developmental appropriateness. Required Qualifications: • Considerable knowledge of special treatment modalities for First Episode Psychosis including family therapy and group treatment, brief therapy. • Familiarity with the development of adolescents, transition age youth, and young adults. • Skilled in the use of competency-based, evidence-based, and best practice interventions including use of identified screening tools. • Understanding of psychosocial problems of those with serious emotional disorders. • Ability to provide group interventions utilizing evidence-based modalities. • Ability to develop and maintain a trusting therapeutic alliance with clients and their families. • Familiarity of the principles, practices, and techniques of the range of therapeutic behavioral health services for youth. • Capacity to remain calm, rational and react quickly and effectively in emergency situations. • Talent for establishing and maintaining a positive, respectful, and professional relationships with all staff, family, and clients. • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and productive manner to achieve programmatic and agency goals. _Preferred Qualifications:_ • Ability to assess persons served mental status and assist them with utilizing coping strategies, natural supports, and safety planning when necessary. • In-depth knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practices and treatment modalities for young adults with mental health needs. • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills, with the ability to implement evidence-based interventions based on clients' needs and goals. • Knowledge and experience with care coordination and referral systems to assist clients with accessing community resources. • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, with the ability to ensure compliance with DMH, Joint Commission, and agency standards. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, interdisciplinary teams, and community partners. • A commitment to providing culturally and linguistically competent services that are sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse populations, including those with physical disabilities, sexual orientation, and gender differences. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. • Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook. • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities.
