Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas Landon Center on Aging Clinical ExerciseResearch Assistant position will facilitate the exercise interventionfor a VA-funded research study as well as assist in recruitment,evaluation, scheduling, retention and education of patients for exerciseand lifestyle-related clinical trials in cognition, physical function,lifestyle behaviors and frailty prevention; documentation per regulatoryrequirements; work with research team for protocol adherence andexecution; data collection, data entry, and data quality control;contact study participant via phone calls and in-person visits at thetesting facilities and participant\'s homes; supporting regulatoryadherence; and other duties as required. The individual in this positionis expected to work closely with Investigators, Supervisors, projectmanagers and coordinators to accomplish the overall goals of thedivision.

Access to transportation for delivery and set-up of exerciseequipment in study participant\'s homes .Occasional need to move up to 50 lbs with our without assistanceRequired Qualifications
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Exercise Science, ExercisePhysiology, or other health related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/Certification: An exercise-related certification such aspersonal or group fitness instructor/trainer.
Work Experience:
Prior experience in lab or community-based research; especiallyrelated to managing data or electronic files.Experience working with online conference programs like zoom orteams.Skills
Strong working knowledge of exercise principles and guidelinesAbility to initiate and exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills.Ability to work comfortably with a wide variety of individuals.Ability to assemble components with provided instructions (I.e., setup an exercise bike).Comfortable with visiting participant\'s homes to deliver and set uprecumbent bike.Ability to operate personal computer and various software packagessuch as Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.Attention to detail; good time-management skills; strong work-ethic;self-motivated; willing to learn; good interpersonal skills; strongorganizational skills; excellent written and verbal communicationskills; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting as wellas independently.Key Roles and Responsibilities
Participant Recruitment:
Pre-screen potential participants\' eligibility for currently enrollingclinical trials in the Kansas City VA and KUMC by closely reviewingrecords and databases and by interviewing and scheduling potentialparticipants. Educates potential participants about the expectations andrequirements of the exercise trials.
Evaluation, data collection and data entry:
Assist the study coordinator by preparing source documents, lab drawkits, and other materials for study visits. Assist with basic datacollection such as demographic information, health history, physicalperformance testing, and similar. Assist the study coordinator inentering the collected data into electronic database. Assist withchecking entered data against existing records for quality, completenessand acc racy, and other duties related to data management as needed. Mayassist in the administration of physical and cognitive performanceassessments in participants. May assist in the processing, handling, andanalysis of human blood samples.
Retention of participants and exercise intervention facilitation;protocol adherence:
Facilitate exercise intervention with enrolled study participants toachieve the goals of the research project. Participant retention throughmotivation to adhere to the protocol and maintain good relationshipduring the study. Check in calls with participants
Visit protocol execution:
Facilitate exercise intervention visits in-person and virtually via anon-line platform and administer tests and surveys. Follow studyprotocols and procedures to acquire measures and maintain participantsafety. Collect and record testing measures using paper and electroniccapture resources. High Intensity Interval training or stretchingperformed at the Kansas City VA or at participant\'s home remotely.Access to transportation to deliver and set up recumbent bike (up to 50lbs) in participant\'s homes and teach them how to use the equipment,then deliver remaining exercise sessions remotely using an on-line p
