The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pediatrics, Section ofCritical Care Medicine, seeks experienced, part-time Clinical Associatesat 10% effort for a renewable two-year term who will provide coveragefor the Comer Children\'s Hospital PICU and Sedation Services. Thisposition does not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensationis dependent on qualifications; the position is not benefits-eligible.
The Section of Pediatric Critical Care has 16 full-time faculty members,a fully accredited fellowship program, and a 30 bed PICU. The Sectionalso runs the Pediatric Sedation and Palliative Care Services. Facultymembers are actively involved in research, quality improvement, andmedical education initiatives. The PICU has approximately 1600 annualadmissions with continued annual increase in volume over the past 5years. We are the only level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the South Sideof Chicago and the hospital is designated a Magnet hospital by theAmerican Nurses Credentialing Center, a national honor that recognizesnursing excellence. Additionally, we are an ELSO Center of Excellence atthe Gold Level.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have aMD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, 2) be eligible for permanent medicallicensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board Certified or BoardEligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, 4) have cared for complexand critically ill infants, children, and adolescents during the pastfive years, and 5) have a commitment to excellence in patient care andmedical education.
