Washington County Department of Civil Service is offering the Examination for CLERK. The result of this test will make up the eligible list to be used to fill vacancies as they occur in all agencies under the jurisdiction of the Washington County Department of Civil Service including all County departments; Towns; Villages; Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex Board of Cooperative Educational Services (WSWHE BOCES) and all School Districts where the position exists.

Residency: Candidates must have been legal residents of Washington, Saratoga, Warren, Essex, Rensselaer or Hamilton County for at least one month immediately preceding the date of the written test. Towns, Villages or School Districts may give preference in appointment to their own residents and may require residency within the jurisdiction during the term of the appointment.
Duties:
* This is an entry level class involving the performance of a variety of systemized clerical tasks. * The class is distinguished from a Senior Clerk who performs more difficult and complex clerical tasks which require knowledge of a specific program area and the application of judgment and discretion in selecting a course of action.* Employees in this class may be assigned to work on data processing or personal computer to produce acceptable copy by manipulating an alphanumeric keyboard and verifying information on a display screen. * Positions in this class are supervised by a higher-level clerical position by personal observation, review of work in progress or upon completion, and of production records and reports. *A clerk has no supervisory responsibilities but may assist the supervisor in on the job training of a new clerk in a specific clerical task. * Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following requirement on or before the date of the written test: Graduation from high school or possession of equivalency diploma (GED).
