  Who we are

  Talbot is an international insurer and reinsurer operating within the Lloyd’s market through Syndicates 1183 and 2019. We have been part of AIG since 2018 and our ambition is to be AIG’s Centre of Excellence at Lloyd’s. Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.

  Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Marine classes – Fine Art & Specie, Hull, Cargo, and Marine and Energy Liability; Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine and Aviation War, Upstream Energy, Downstream Energy, Political Risk, Crisis Management, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance.

  Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG’s Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products.

  About the role

  What you need to know:

  As part of our continued expansion plans for our Fine Art & Specie portfolio we now have a new opening for a Lloyd’s Underwriter. You will be joining a team that play not only a key part in Syndicate 1183 but are also the FAS centre of excellence for the wider AIG group, leveraging an expanded network to build one of the best performing portfolios in the market. This position holds authority to write on both Syndicate (Talbot) and Company market (AIG) paper.

  Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  Attend broker and client meetings

  Portfolio management

  Day to day servicing and underwriting of the portfolio

  Partnering with internal teams to drive portfolio performance, compliance, and efficiency

  Developing broker and client relationships

  What we’re looking for:

  Lloyd’s market underwriting experience.

  Confident with all four sub classes of Fine, Art & Specie (emphasis on FA/JB)

  Proactive with the ability to work independently but also as part of a close-knit team.

  Ability to manage an existing portfolio – renewals, endorsements, client meetings

  Confident in dealing with brokers, analysing new submissions, and making sound judgement calls

  Strong broker relationships and the ability to transact daily with brokers via Lloyd’s, phone, and email

  Understanding of aggregate monitoring, key exposure zones and ability to work effectively with the Cat modelling team – highly desirable

  Understanding of DUA and facilitated business with the ability to interact with the DUA team/process – highly desirable. Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to develop in this area

  Desire to help grow our portfolio in a profitable way, with a view to continue learning and taking on more responsibility over time as appropriate (will be a role in which the right candidate will be able to develop and grow across both syndicate and group)

  Understanding of multinational business would be advantageous. (Exposure will be given in role)
