　　Position Summary:

　　AXIS Insurance is a world leader in specialty lines insurance, including professional liability within the US market. We are seeking a talented and dynamic claims professional to join our Management Liability (ML) claims team as a Claims Specialist. This position will handle primary and excess claims involving Public and Private D&O, Financial Institutions and Private Equity.

　　Preferred candidates will be able to commute to an AXIS office, we are a hybrid work environment 3 days week.

　　Key Duties and Responsibilities:

　　• Independently handle a portfolio of middle-market primary and excess claims, including analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters

　　• Investigate liability and damages issues in connection with claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation

　　• Ability to evaluate claims and quantum, and make accurate reserve recommendations

　　• Ability to independently attend mediations / settlement conferences and negotiate claim resolutions

　　• Assign and supervise outside counsel in the defense of our insureds in an effort to effectively resolve claims

　　• Maintain and develop relationships with insureds, brokers and outside counsel

　　• Communicates regularly with Senior Claim and Underwriting Managers on large losses, reserving, account trends, coverage matters and industry trends

　　• Professionally represents AXIS as needed in the marketplace and assists underwriting as needed

　　• Responds to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and urgency

　　• Assess claims to support ML claim metrics/trends in coordination with the ML claims and underwriting teams

　　• Participate in special projects and department initiatives

　　• Provide best-in-class claims service

　　Required Education, Experience and Attributes:

　　• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required

　　• 2+ years’ experience at either a law firm or an insurance company

　　• Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills

　　Other desires skills and characteristics:

　　• Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment

　　• Prior exposure to middle-market D&O and E&O matters and Federal Securities Class Actions, Derivative Litigation and SEC-related matters

　　• Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and with external clients and others in a prompt, concise and appropriate manner

　　• Team player willing to proactively assist the wider organization as needed.

　　• Excellent writing skills

　　• Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills

　　• Adjuster licenses where required

　　• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) and Share Point

　　For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of New York, NY - $110-$160K; Short Hills, NJ - $85 -$150K; Los Angeles, CA $85 -$150K; Chicago, IL - $80 - $135K; Alpharetta, GA -$70 - $125K .  The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
