In this position, you will apply yourtechnical knowledge to assess, and ultimately determine the origin and causeof complex and unique problems in all aspects of built environment. This willinclude project types such as single and multifamily residences; commercialand public buildings; roadways; dams; bridges; airports;pipelines; and railways. You will provide forensic, consulting servicesrequiring Civil Engineering expertise for insurance, legal, industrial,and other clients through oral and written reports of findings and when neededEssential Job Functions:Performs the investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, andindustrial properties for the purpose of resolving claims and legal matters.Performs forensic assignments within the field of civil engineering expertisebased upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreedupon by the client in advance of performing the work.Field Investigations: Study and determine the cause and origin ofconstruction defects or structural failures and/or damage, buildingenvelope failures and/or damage, as well as determine the extent andrepairability of such failures and/or damage. This includes gatheringphotographic evidence, conducting investigations to document on-siteconditions, in-person and/or telephone interviews, overseeing fieldtesting, reviewing construction and/or design drawings, contracts, orspecifications, and/or reviewing historical documentation.Preparation of oral and written reports to document the causes of failureand/or damage, extent of loss, associated repair scope, andrecommended remediation are essential as is providing opinions and experttestimony in litigation matters.Manages multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and support asneeded to produce client reports in a timely manner.Ensures that procedure is being followed and performs safety and due-diligenceof the project during the time it is being completed.Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial clientrelationships.Required Experience, Education and Certifications: (make applicable edits)B.S. Civil Engineering degree or higher.P.E. required in the state of employment or the ability to obtain it quickly.2-10+ years of experience.Project Management and/or Field Investigation preferred.Depending on location, other licenses or certifications may be required.Required Skills and AbilitiesMust have strong verbal and written communication skills.Must have strong organizational and time management skills.Must have high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attentionto detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establishfacts, and draw valid conclusions.Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g.internal and external).Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications includingbut not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer-assistedengineering and design software.Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technicalreports or journals, financial eports and legal documents.Ability to write scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports offindings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents.Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients.
