This position may work closely with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.
This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of civil, site, and construction aspects of clean energy technologies and projects
Able to evaluate the expected or actual functionality and performance of civil, site, and construction aspects of project
Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the functionality and performance of civil, site, and construction aspects of project
Identify project risks and risks mitigants of technology and project
Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary)
Conduct independent engineering / due diligence reports on project construction process
Work in teams and independently to provide expertise on various clean energy project planning and execution for construction
Conduct on-site construction monitoring inspections, review related contractor reports / associated construction documentation, and prepare technical advisory reports of related findings
Draft independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated designs, technologies, and construction activities
Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise)
Develop labor and material cost estimates for technology projects
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication – communicating succinctly and clearly
Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, EPC contractors)
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering
Background in power and industrial applications, including construction, foundations and piles, related structural needs (e.g., structures and roadways), and thermal expansion
Familiarity with geotechnical and groundwater reports
Experience providing independent engineering, technical advisory, or due diligence
Ability to review related contracts, such as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts is a plus
Minimum of 10 years’ experience practicing in this field, preferably as an engineer-of-record
Master’s Degree in civil, environmental, structural, or engineering management engineering is a plus
A licensed professional engineer (P.E.) is preferred
Ability to manage projects is preferred
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required
