The Coordinator of Behavioral Support Services reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development and is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring behavioral support services and programs. The Coordinator provides guidance across the district to ensure that research-based MTSS strategies, interventions, and systems are in place to support student achievement.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with all practices, policies, and regulations related to behavioral support and interventions as established by the BOCES Board, the State Education Department, Federal Government, and IDEA.
Assess the organization’s overall philosophy, consistency, and implementation of behavioral systems across programs; provide recommendations for improved practices.
Oversee the development of a Multi-Tiered System of Support; Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention protocols, problem-solving processes, data-based decision-making, progress monitoring, and communication and collaboration processes among staff.
Monitor the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at program sites, including the identification of students, delivery of Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and progress monitoring.
Plan and implement high quality professional development for a full continuum of research-based behavioral strategies and effective MTSS practices.
Guide and train behavior specialists with planning and preparation of behavior plans and supports, using skills such as data analysis, research, and resource management.
Define roles and responsibilities of teachers, mental health staff and specialists to insure an integrated and coordinated system of behavioral interventions.
Coordinate essential training to include PBIS, Trauma Informed Restorative Practices, and TCIS to include necessary record keeping.
Provide Risk Threat Assessment training and review risk threat and suicide forms.
Recommend and implement program enhancements or new program development to meet the needs of students and families.
Seek community-based resources and partnerships to provide support to students and families to help them be successful in the educational environment.
Establish reporting processes and forms, debriefing processes and forms, flow charts and communications. Maximize use of technology for upmost efficiency.
Gather systematic data on restraints, time outs, suspension data, analyze and assist administrators with responding to this data.
Support central referral committees to ensure smooth transitions for students with significant mental health or behavioral challenges.
Coordinate proposals for department budget and direct the expenditure of monetary allotments.

Job Qualifications
NYS Permanent/Professional Certification in School Psychology, School Social Work, Special Education, Behavior Analysis or a related field.
NYS School District Administrator Certification.
Five (5) Years Experience teaching or providing support services to students with disabilities.
Knowledge of MTSS framework, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), response to intervention (RTI), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and family engagement.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Established relationships with community behavioral health agencies and governing bodies.
