Job Overview
The Child Life Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Child Lifeprograms or activities that address psychosocial, emotional and/or familyconcerns that accompany illness and injury of children, adolescents andyoung adults. Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare team to advocatefor and ensure that developmentally appropriate, emotionally safe,family-centered care is being provided to patients and families.

Qualifications
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development,Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields.EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years previous experience in providing child lifeservices in a healthcare setting.EQUIVALENCY - A Master or higher degree in a related field may substitute forthe experience requirements on a year for year basis.CERTIFICATION(S) - Child Life Professional Certification (CCLS)This position may require a BLS certification from the American HeartAssociation. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Assists in and coordinates the design, development and implementation ofshort- and long-term plans for programs and performance objectives thatprovide in-depth support for end of life, new diagnosis and traumaticexperiences for patients and families; monitors progress and evaluatesoverall performance to assure desired out omes are met.Provides education to healthcare staff, patients and families, and thecommunity regarding the scope of Child Life services, the impact ofhealthcare on development, providing developmentally appropriate andemotionally safe medical care, and professional boundaries.Coordinates quality improvement, professional development and/or researchinitiatives.Provides support and guidance to team members regarding various programsand/or projects. Encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.Coordinates the development and maintenance of departmental resources and theplanning and facilitation of special events.Participates in departmental, divisional and/or organizational committeesand projects as assigned; may serve in lead or chair capacity.
