  Job Description:

  The Child Development Teacher interacts with children and provides care and education to support their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and safety.

  Posting Specifics

  Entry Rate: $17.68 + Based on experience

  Shift Details : Shifts would be mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. Typically starting between 1:00PM - 4:00PM AND ending between 5:30PM - 7:00PM. Possibility of earlier hours needed to cover shifts for other staff time off This position is Part-Time (20 hrs/wk). Hours of operation at the Center are Monday-Friday from 5:45am - 6:45pm.

  Additional Details: Located at the R-Kids (Utah Valley Hospital Child Development Center) Previous experience working with infants and toddlers is preferred. Due to the nature of the center being census based, scheduling differs based on how many children attend each day and there are often many changes to the schedule so this position requires flexibility to work well.

  Scope

  This position works under broad guidelines with a great deal of flexibility in providing care and activities for children.

  Job Essentials

  Organizes educational curriculum and daily schedules that meet the goals of the Child Development Center.

  Warmly interacts with children using approved early childhood education standards and immediately attends to the physical and emotional needs of the children.

  Observes and recognizes obvious difficulties individual children are having mastering developmentally appropriate activities or controlling difficult behavior and discusses possible actions with supervisor and parents if needed.

  Accurately and professionally maintains daily records as required by State licensing including incident reports, attendance sheets, and daily record sheets.

  Observes, assesses, and documents children's progress in achieving developmental milestones and activities and maintains observation notes and other portfolio information on each child's development to be shared with parents on a regular basis. Develops appropriate curriculum activities based on children's needs and progress.

  Establishes a developmentally appropriate room environment that is warm, nurturing, and safe and that stimulates learning and discovery.

  Performs direct supervision of children in the classroom.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Must obtain CPR, First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire.

  Must obtain Food Handlers Permit within 60 days of hire.

  Six months experience of in an early childhood program.

  Successful completion of all state required background checks.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Associate degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  Certificate in Early Childhood Development

  The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  $17.68 - $22.98
