  Your Role at KIK

  The Chemical Technician I is an entry level position for the coolants development group within the Internal Combustion department. The position plays an integral role in the product development and growth of the Prestone Organization. The responsibilities include the setup, testing, and documentation of automotive testing based out of the Prestone Danbury, CT Site. The Chemical Technician I will be expected to run a variety of automotive tests in a demanding fast-paced environment with the internal R&D team as well as external partners to develop products, and solve problems based on the needs of the business. An interest in automobile technology is highly desirable.

  What You’ll Be Doing

  Conducts activities in accordance with established Corporate and Site Safety procedures and notifies the supervisor of any unsafe conditions or practices in the area

  Prepares materials, sets up, and dismantles apparatus and equipment

  Performs complex experiments as required, runs reactions, and performs prescribed analysis on programs where error can have a significant impact

  Operates physical, chemical, optical, and analytical equipment to evaluate products, compounds and packaging

  Records and tabulates data in laboratory notebook in legal form following defined procedures

  Observes irregularities, unusual behavior, or trends in experience or tests, and interprets causes with the help of Supervising Managers

  Communicates the results of work to Supervisors following prescribed procedures

  Administer specification database, including creating and revising the specification

  Prepares periodic written reports

  Ensure that products are launched on time, meeting quality and cost targets

  Ensure that all assigned activity conforms to legislative, health & safety, and environmental requirements by liaising with the Regulatory Manager

  Drive improved standards of safety and housekeeping and lead initiatives to improve laboratory practices

  What You’ll Bring

  Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science-related field OR Associate’s degree in mechanical field with 1+ years of laboratory experience

  Knowledge of safety in a laboratory environment

  A background in formulation, preferably within the consumer products industry, and photographic, computer, and statistical skills are a plus

  Ability to multi-task, working on several projects at the same time

  Willingness and desire to grow technically through continued education and learning is essential.

  Strong written communication skills

  We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. This position has a base salary range of $50,000– $60,000. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
