Description
Currently, we have a great opportunity available for an Chemical Operator, ETP to join our Production Team/Group/Dept. This position will be located in our Singapore branch and will report directly to the Production Engineer. The ETP operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating all equipment necessary to manufacture atmospheric emulsions, reactor batches, pilot batches, and cold-blend products. This position is also responsible for performing quality control testing, packaging product for shipment to customers.
Primary Responsibilities
Communicate with Shift Team Leaders and Production Engineer regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issue
Manufacture batches in accordance with all safety, quality, and efficiency standards by following work orders and verbal directions
Safely and efficiently operate reactors, emulsion kettles, Cowles mixers, homogenizers, heat exchangers, pumps, filtration devices, automated packing stations, forklifts, and other equipment related to the manufacture of chemicals
Correct packaging of finished goods into pails, drums or totes as required.
Efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant, soft water process and boiler operation when necessary
Use equipment to monitor pressure, temperature, and other hazardous conditions
Monitoring of SCADA systems
Execute process parameters warning alarm systems
Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
Perform quality control testing and adjust batches to ensure specifications are met through water adjustments, debugs, reheats, etc.
Perform required calibrations on equipment in accordance to ISO procedures
Ensure accurate documentation and inventory accuracy in accordance to established doctrine
Use all equipment safely and ensure safe operation of equipment by coworkers
Maintain clean work areas in accordance with 6S protocol
Assist in the manufacture of new products and establishing procedures
Prepare sample as per customer request
Assist in the prevention of quality problems and the establishment of solutions for existing issues
Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 40 kg
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
Must be able to pass Pulmonary Function Test
Must be able to operate forklift safely
Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment
Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic math and computer application skills
Basic mechanical maintenance & troubleshooting skills (eg, mixer, motor & pump) will be a plus
Knowledge of SCADA, PLC Programming & DCS system will be advantageous
Ability to think independently and handle tasks through to completion in an efficient manner
Ability to adapt to changing demands and to react positively to verbal instructions given by a Team Leader or other superior
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to follow procedures and handle multiple tasks, effecting a positive outcome
Willingness to work in a team environment
Education and Experience
“ITE”/ Diploma level
Work Hours
Michelman’s standard work hours for this role is a 12 hours rotating shift, day shift will start from 7am to 7pm and night shift will start from 7pm to 7am.
