PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Cardiovascular Consultants is seeking a Chart Preparer to join our team at the corporate office. The Chart Preparer handles medical records requests, prepares EMR charts, and performs clerical functions to assist busy specialty clinics. Individually receives and handles calls for records requests, follows directions and completes tasks with minimal supervision and in compliance with HIPAA standards. The Chart Preparer should have good recordkeeping and organizational skills; and has working knowledge of EMR system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares EMR charts and assists the specialty clinics in all aspects of medical records.
Reviews clinic schedules, accurately determining and obtaining records needed for daily appointments. Delivers said records to scanners for entry to EMR patient records within designated time frame. (3 to 5 days ahead of scheduled appointments)
Maintains an organized and efficient work environment.
Communicates effectively with clients and other team members.
Takes incoming calls in a professional manner.
Responds to request for medical record review by overseeing Audit Personnel and coordinating dates, method of reviews and departmental processes for Chart Auditing.
Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma required; Advanced Degree desirable but not required.EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
1 year of experience with chart preparation in Internal Medicine or Cardiology.
Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while presenting detail-oriented and organizational skills.
Knowledge of EMR system.
Must have proficient computer skills.
Knowledge of phones and phone etiquette.
