Job Description: Assistsphysician as scrub person according to prescribed standards. Assist RNin performing circulating duties as directed. Functions under directsupervision of a circulating nurse and physician. Display understandingof anatomy and physiology, the pathological condition affecting thepatient, the planned operative procedure and consider any variationsthat may be necessary to meet the needs of a specific patient. Patientpopulation to include neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric. Goodinterpersonal and analytical skills. Ability to concentrate and payclose attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when performingtechnical tasks and anticipating surgeon\'s needs. MajorResponsibilities: 1. Assists and anticipates needs of surgeon andsurgical team by passing instrumentation, equipment and suppliesaccurately and quickly. 2. Predicting the needs of the patient andsurgeon and preparing necessary items for cases. Demonstrates workingknowledge of instruments/equipment used in surgical procedures. 3.Utilizes personal protective equipment. 4. Assisting in the clean up ofthe room between procedures. Making necessary preparations forsubsequent procedures and for the next days procedures, includingrestocking, supplying and coordinating materials required for use onprocedures (may include documentation of usage). 5. Directly responsiblefor maintaining aseptic integrity during the surgical procedure.Organizes sterile field for use, opens sterile supplies scrubbing anddonning sterile gowns and gloves.
