You.Scope
1.Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.2. Prioritizes daily tasked based on interpretation of surgical schedule,determining the requirement for instruments for each surgical case.3. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.4. Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments,packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for allinstruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.5. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments forcleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment.6. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including followinglabeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missinginstruments and implants replaced in trays.7. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the CentralProcessing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, backorders and/or changes.8. Responds to emergency situations by insuring all emergency, trauma andadd-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in atimely manner.9. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate recordkeeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.10. Provides on the job training on the job training (OJT) to newly hiredassociates in the department.11. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.12. Performs other duties as assigned.13. May be required to work overtime based on business need.14. May be required to float to other departments (within scope ofcompetency and qualifications) based on business need.15. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
RequiredHigh School diploma or equivalentCertified Registered Central Supply Technician (CRCST) or CertifiedSterile ProcessingDepartment Technician (CSPDT), or Certified SurgicalTechnician (CST)Competent working knowledge in all aspects of Sterile Processing
Preferred
1+ year of experience in a hospital or clinic operating room

Reasonable accommodations may be madeto enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Demonstrated competency in all areas of Sterile Processing tasks,procedures, practices.Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled businesshours or scheduled shifts is required.Advanced knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and decontamination processesand sterilizers.Advanced understanding of types and functions of instruments and equipment(e.g. endoscopic, microsurgical, robotic and power)Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within amulti-functional team.Experience and understanding in the use of computers, as well as the abilityto learn software relevant to Sterile Processing.Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service orientedenvironment.Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
