Description Job Purpose: Provide patient care and support for patients receiving monitored anesthesia care. The CRNA will participate in the preparation, administration and recovery of patients undergoing monitored anesthesia care for procedures in the ASCs. The CRNA will work independently or in conjunction with an Anesthesiologist and a Proceduralist to provide safe and high quality care for procedures in the ACSs. Other duties may include participating in other related activities as delineated by clinical and nonclinical responsibilities and needs of the department. Key Responsibilities: Review patient history in pre-procedure setting in order to determine best practice care. Develops plans of care for patients, in conjunction with an Anesthesiologist or Proceduralist During procedure, monitor and assess the patient as well as administer anesthesia and manage the patient's reactions accordingly. Ensures patients are stable for transfer of care to a recovery nurse. Discharge patients from recovery as appropriate. Clinical Responsibilities: Care will be delivered based on the Standards of Care as outlined by the AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists) and the ASA (American Association of Anesthesiologists) Preanesthesia assessment and risk stratification based on evidence based practice Requesting laboratory/diagnostic studies as necessary Preanesthetic medication General anesthesia and adjuvant drugs Regional Blocks: Local infiltration Topical Sedation techniques Cardiopulmonary resuscitation management Invasive and noninvasive monitoring Airway management techniques Mechanical ventilation/oxygen therapy Fluid, electrolyte, acid-base management Peripheral intravenous/arterial catheter placement Acute and chronic pain therapy Post anesthesia care/discharge Qualification Requirements: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the essential functions of this position. Educational Requirements: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor. Certifications/Licenses: Holds current state licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse in the state of Minnesota. Complies with state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning advanced practice registered nursing. Is currently certified by the Council on Certification of Nurses Anesthetists or its predecessor (NBCRNA) Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.
