Peer Specialists work 1:1with people enrolled in the DHS Peer Specialist Program as they identifytheir needs throughout their recovery journeys. The Peer Specialistsutilize their own unique lived experience to engage the people they areserving and role model recovery during each interaction. PeerSpecialists support all individuals in the following goals:improvequality of life for individuals, promote individuals\' recovery,increase individuals\' ability to effectively deal with challenges andproblem solve crises, increase individuals\' ability to manage stressorsoutside an inpatient hospital setting and assist individuals innavigating between system access points and levels of care. EssentialFunctions: Link individuals to a variety of self-determined supports andservices within the Waukesha County, including traditional mental healthservices such as case management, psychiatry and individual therapy,mutual aid support groups, natural supports and discover other kinds ofhealing and/or purposeful activities that may contribute to the recoveryprocess. Maintain both in person and virtual contact with individualsper request by DHS. Provide 1:1 peer support services to people inWaukesha County (including in the DHS office, the peers home and othercommunity-based locations).
