JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview This is a CNA position for high schoolstudents through Youth Apprenticeship program. Cares for patients in thehospital setting under direction of nursing staff, by performing thefollowing duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May includeweekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours. Performsother duties as assigned. This position must comply with all Departmentof Labor and/or State standards for child labor provisions. If this jobdescription conflicts with the federal or state laws, the laws must befollowed. When state youth employment laws differ from the federalprovisions, we must comply with the higher standard. * Partners underage 18 may not operate an electronic or air powered hoists/lifts in anysetting. * Partners under age 18 may not repair, service, ordisassemble the power drive machines. * Partners under age 18 may notassist with tasks being performed by the power-driven machines. *Partners under age 18 are prohibited from assisting or usingpower-driven hoists/lifts to elevate and transport patients. * Partnersunder age 18 are prohibited from using the following equipmentfloor-based vertical powered patient lift devices; ceiling-mountedvertical powered patient life devices; and powered sit-to-stand patientlift devices. * Partners under age 18 may not independently engage in\"hands on\" physical contact with the patient during thelifting/transferring process (such as placing or removing the sling,including pushing or pulling the sling under/around thepatient/resident; adjusting the sling under/around the patient; andmanipulating the patient when placing, adjusting or removing the sling),and may only assist in these \"hands on\" activities when assisting atrained adult partner while the adult partner is simultaneously engagedin such activities. * Wisconsin law prohibits 16 and 17 year olds fromworking during the hours they are required to be in school without anapproved work experience program. They must be given a 30 minute mealbreak if they work longer than 6 hours. They may not work past 11pmwithout 8 hours of rest between the end of one shift and the start ofthe next shift. Responsibilities Provides patient care as assigned andper routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards ofcare, shift routines, and policies and procedures. Answers call lightsin a timely and appropriate manner. Documents care provided according tostandards. Maintains a clean work and patient environment. Maintainssupplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies anddisposing of expired or damaged supplies. Floats to various units basedon identified patient care needs.
