Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Loomis Lakeside at Reeds LandingSpringfield, MA Per Diems Any Shift Summary Description: Under thesupervision and guidance of a licensed nurse, the CNA is responsible forassisting with direct patient care within the scope of their practice aswell as other work on the unit which supports the patient environment.The CNA assists staff to ensure optimal patient care and assists thehealthcare team to provide and maintain a clean, safe, and attractiveenvironment for patients. Work will include components of direct patientcare, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation of patientsand supplies, and general maintenance of the patient environment. TheCNA is responsible for maintaining his/her own clinical and mandatoryeducation requirements and for meeting the established standards oftheir profession as well as those accountable for his/her practice,assigned duties/patient care, and is an advocate for patients/familiesand their profession. Collaborates with other professional disciplinesto ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and theachievement of desired patient outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge ofage-specific patient populations and cultural diversity during theprovision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality carethrough performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positiveoutcomes in patient care. Provides nursing care to residents of TheLoomis Communities Nursing Centers in accordance with current Federal,State, and local regulations and facility policies and procedures, underdirection of nursing staff, by performing the following duties.Essential Functions: 1. Performs job functions in a manner consistentwith the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities. Adheres to TheLoomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program. 2. Demonstrates anawareness of, a respect for and attention to the diversity of the peoplewith whom they interact (persons served, personnel, families/caregivers,and other stakeholders) that is reflected in attitudes, behavior andservices. 3. Assists in activities of daily living requirements andtasks in care and treatment of residents with person-centered careapproaches while offering meaningful choices to each person served, asdirected in the daily living guides to assure the physical comfort,safety and mental wellbeing. 4. Takes and records temperature, pulse,respiratory rate, blood pressure, I and O, weights and observes andreports signs/symptoms, reactions and changes to resident condition.Utilizes appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics to strive forhealthy living for all staff and residents. 5. Maintain a neat and cleanenvironment to comply with safety regulations, infection controlstandard at all times. 6. Participates on various committees, educationopportunities, complies with all CARF/CCAC, OSHA, DPH and other survey/inspections guidelines and standards, and completes mandatory trainingprograms to provide the highest standard of services and to advance newideas and approaches. 7. Complies with resident rights andconfidentiality in a manner consistent with age specific competencies.Required Education: - Must have completed a state certified nurse aidtraining program with a certificate in good standings, Basic CPRLicense(s) (Required/Preferred): - Nurses aid certificationSkills/Competencies: - Ability to apply common sense understanding tocarry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables instandardized situations. - Ability to read, write, and speak English. -Ability to relate well to all residents, including the emotionallyupset. - Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, familymembers, visitors and the public. - Ability to report to work regularlyand promptly. - Ability to work beyond normal hours when nece sary.
