JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary A position with responsibility forassisting clients with activities of daily living, providing nursingcare and active treatment to clients/residents in assigned household,neighborhood or unit and assisting in the maintenance of a safe, cleanand therapeutic environment. Essential Duties Assists in creating atherapeutic atmosphere conducive to the mental health ofclients/residents. In conjunction with the facilities departmentmaintains a clean, comfortable and safe environment for clients.Provides client care to meet the physical needs of the client/resident;also provides care relative to the emotional and psychosocial needs ofclients. Participates in the development of the client care plan andimplement provisions of the client/resident care plans. In conjunctionwith the therapy department and nursing department provides activitiesor simple food prep related to activities on the households as assigned.Takes clients on community outings for recreational or educationalpurposes. Observes client/resident and reports any change in clientbehavior/condition to Registered Nurse/designee immediately and respondto emergency and crisis situations. Maintains the confidential nature ofall client/resident and business information. Attends staff meetings,attends in-service and outside agency training sessions if appropriate.Completes and maintains necessary documentation according to applicablerequirements, codes and policies. In the CBRF assists with groupinteractions, assist with admissions, scheduling, other clerical dutiesas assigned and maintain a homelike environment. In the CBRF creates asupportive environment with supervision and assistance to clients basedon individual needs in order to achieve maximum independent function andresolve crisis, documenting fulfillment of crisis plans and clientprogress. Performs related functions as assigned. ***** OTHEREXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Currentknowledge of procedures and techniques in providing routine,non-professional nursing care to the geriatric elderly, developmentallydisabled, mentally ill, AODA client or children and adolescents.Knowledge of CPI, Restraining Techniques and Therapeutic Interventions.Knowledge of principles of documentation. Knowledge of basic principlesof active treatment. Knowledge of basic principles of behaviormodification and appropriate application of behavior modificationtechniques. Ability to recognize and address the physical, psychosocial,mental and emotional needs of the client. Ability to carry out a nursingcare plan and to follow oral and written instructions, as directed bythe Registered Nurse. Ability to organize, plan, lead and participate inactivities. Ability to deal with stress associated with threatening ofunpredictable client behavior. Ability to use all standard medicalequipment (thermometer, blood pressure apparatus, stethoscope, etc.)including proper use of mechanical lifts and gait belt. Ability toestablish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships withclients/residents and family members. Ability to establish and maintaineffective public and working relationships with other employees. Abilityto communicate in a positive and effective manner both orally and inwriting.
