About you and this role
We are looking for the brightest minds to join our Research Assignment Program (RAP), providing exciting opportunities for campus graduates to start their career by exploring different areas of industrial Research and Development in a leading materials science company during a 21-month rotational program.
You will start with a 9-month assignment in your initial location (Seneffe, Belgium), followed by a 12-month rotation across various Dow businesses and potentially other EU locations, where you will engage in two additional 6-month projects. You will be joining the Technical Service & Development (TS&D) team within the Dow Coating Materials (DCM) business, focusing on Industrial Coatings, specifically Paper Coatings – collaborating with TS&D scientists who are passionate about building great customer relationships and collaborate on projects to deliver innovative solutions. At the end of the program, you will come back to your base location (Seneffe) as a Senior Technical Service & Development Specialist.

Responsibilities
Assess and validate innovations from product development to customer implementation.
Provide technical expertise to existing customers in Paper Coating to support the commercialization and sales of sustainable barrier coatings for paper packaging applications aiming at eliminating single-use plastic packaging and hereby reducing waste generation.
Conduct experiments & generate data in the laboratory to design new products and solutions.
Collaborate with our marketing and sales teams to expand business in barrier coatings for paper packaging applications.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, R&D, marketing, sales, and manufacturing colleagues.
Explore opportunities for role expansion and the development of expertise to become a subject matter expert.
Participate in technical associations and industry meetings, as well as collaborate with universities and research institutes.
Qualifications
A recent Ph.D. graduate in Chemistry, Materials or Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Coatings Technology or any related fields with a focus on chemistry, coatings and formulation technology, paper packaging, chemical processes, polymer characterization and sustainability
Less than 1 year of experience
Fluency in English
Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Creativity and commitment to achieve desired results.
Methodical approach, and strategic prioritization to boost project success.
Willingness to relocate nationally and internationally within the first 21 months at Dow
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in additional languages, such as German and French.
Passion for multiple aspects of chemistry, engineering and materials-based research that are on the cutting edge of innovation.
Willing to collaborate in a diverse environment with colleagues from around the world.
Keen interest in commitment to customer interaction and the delivery of innovative solutions to drive growth for both the customer and Dow's business.
