Position Summary
bechtel.org is Bechtel's in-house social enterprise, within Bechtel’s Infrastructure global business unit, that develops and delivers impact infrastructure projects that enhance access to economic opportunities and social services for underserved communities in emerging markets and the developing world. bechtel.org seeks a seasoned Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) Manager to lead bechtel.org’s growth and impact in multiple thematic areas (e.g., climate change, food security, clean water access). As a core member of the bechtel.org team, the position will be based in London and report to the group’s General Manager.
ResponsibilitiesLead preparation of growth and impact strategies and plans to develop a pipeline of new projects with impact.
Leverage existing networks and affiliations to cultivate new project partnerships globally.
Build and apply sensemaking competencies and capabilities to convert market and global trends into project and impact opportunities.
Lead/support project originations; prioritize, plan, and assist key activities.
Interface with project sponsors/partners to understand needs and expectations.
Identify and help develop finance models for projects.
Serve as primary contact for project sponsors/partner queries.
Develop and/or deliver pitches/presentations as needed.
Prepare required documents (e.g., NDAs, Exclusivity Agreements, expression of interests, grant proposals, concept notes).
Assess and resolve project development issues in timely and accurate manner.
Work with Operations Manager to assess early/risks and technical challenges and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
Support preparation of cost and schedule estimations for key prospects.
Support negotiations for contractual terms and agreements.
Support transition work from origination to award to post-award.
Support management approval actions as required.
Work closely with bechtel.org’s M&BD specialist to develop leads and convert them into new project and impact opportunities.
Stakeholder Relations and MarketingPrepare annual stakeholder relationship/marketing plan, including schedule and cost.
Develop and/or update bechtel.org’s messaging, value proposition, key selling/buying factors; work with internal M&BD support teams.
Build and maintain judicious relationships with funders, project sponsors, and partners; deepen relations and trust with anchor financers and customers for repeat projects.
Represent bechtel.org at key meetings/forums and expand bechtel.org’s thought leadership, network, and affiliations.
Serve as focal point for key associations/memberships; optimize services to benefit bechtel.org’s judicious interests.
Lead bechtel.org’s digital marketing and strategies.
Contribute content to promote bechtel.org’s thought leadership.
Work closely with bechtel.org’s impact analyst to communicate bechtel.org’s measurement methodology and project impacts.
Qualifications and skillsEssential
Undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred) in business management, marketing, finance, international development, or relevant field.
Strong grasp of connections between business, society, and social impact.
Demonstrated familiarity of major global issues and policies related to sustainability, infrastructure, and social impact.
Exceptional interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communications skills (English); able to describe complex concepts to multiple audiences.
Exceptional market research skills and quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Exceptional technical skills to generate proposals and find solutions to meet requirements of project sponsors and partners.
DesirableAble to multi-task, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Have an entrepreneurial spirit to identify and act on new opportunities or improvements.
Self-motivated, proactive and able to execute work with limited supervision and within a global and cross-functional team using a collaborative style to achieve successful results.
Proficiency with MS 365 Office suite and using CRM (customer relationship management) software.
