The Department of Defense, Veterans' and Emergency Management is currently seeking a skilled individual who is proficient in inspecting, repairing, modifying, and installing HVAC equipment to join their team. This position involves working with a variety of complex equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, water cooling towers, forced-air converter units, pumps, and much more. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing or replacing defective parts in units and equipment, testing and examining boiler operations, and programming heating and air conditioning system components utilizing computer software. If you have knowledge of maintenance and a background in HVAC, this role could be the perfect fit for you.
This crucial position assists in fulfilling the 24/7 mission requirements at the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor, Maine, and two geographically separated units in South Portland, Maine. As a rule, this position works under limited supervision and is expected to make all decisions necessary to maintain the HVAC operations at the two sites. These sites consist of approximately 550,000 sq. ft. of facilities, (49) buildings on the above-referenced two locations.
Primary responsibilities include:
Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves and capillary tubes.
Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high-limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
Test and examine boiler operations, observing meter and pressure gauges; conduct boiler water quality test and treatment; adjust boiler burner combustion.
Programs heating and air conditioning system components utilizing computer software to install, monitor, and operate the building.
Maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and write reports as required, utilizing a computerized work order management system.
Minimum qualifications:
Current valid Master Plumber's license as issued by the Plumber's Examining Board Or Current valid Master Oil Burner Mechanic's License as issued by the Maine Fuel Board.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Environmental Protection Agency #608 Universal Technician Certification
Propane and Natural Gas Technician License with endorsements (Large Equipment Connection/Service)
