Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947 and a Colas company, has an opening for an experienced energetic General Bridge Superintendent for its structure bridge projects. The qualified candidate will be experienced in Heavy Civil construction including bridges, excavations, and PennDOT work. Our operating market includes Central, Southern, Eastern and Western parts of Pennsylvania.
A project superintendent will forecast the number of employees, materials, and equipment needed to efficiently perform assigned project(s) while being compliant with all safety standards.
The successful candidate will regulate multiple areas of the project to ensure that the project is completed within budget, on time, and following all safety precautions. Candidate must have experience with PennDOT and large project operations management.
Main Responsibilities
Abide by all safety requirements and enforce the same for all employees
Demonstrate a high level of professional ethics and enforce other team members to exhibit the same qualities
Regulates and supervises all job site activities
Coordinates with Foreman and project management to ensure progression of the project in a timely manner
Delegates tasks to be completed by foreman and regulates the completion of successful day-to-day operations
Resolves conflicts that arise during maintenance of the project
Communicate with subcontractors and other employees to ensure procurement of supplies and materials needed
Verify accurate inventory of materials and equipment
Reviews assigned project’s daily cost

Attends and plans meetings as necessary
Exhibits a professional and positive attitude while interacting with vendors and suppliers
Advise team members and mentor a team
Aspires to complete project on time in accordance with the contract owners and subcontractors while following safety standards
Formulates good on the spot decision making and provides effective problem-solving solutions
Discloses any problems with the site including but not limited to accidents, injuries, and damages to equipment
Coordinates with safety team and human resources to ensure all company and government safety regulations are being met
Measures, along with the project manager, the progress of project and ensure tasks are completed as discussed in contract
Regulates communication of team members and subcontractors
Completes any additional assignments as needed
Education
Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred but not required
Valid driver’s license with clean driving history
Skills
A minimum of 5 years experience on management of large projects and PennDOT experience preferred
Ability to read and understand construction documents and blueprints
Effectively communicate with subcontractors, employees, and superiors
Sophisticated ability to interpret and review construction plans and drawings
Advance ability to use software applications including HCSS and Heavy Job
Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
Frequent exposure to loud noises
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
Required to work varying hours, including nights/ weekends as required
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms
Standing/working on feet for long periods
Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
Proven track record working safely
Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
