  Black &Veatch Construction has a Waste-to-Energy project in the UK. We are seeking a Boiler Package Manager with a Mechanical and Engineering background who will be responsible for overseeing the installation and subsequent commissioning of a large Waste to Energy Boiler. The role will encompass all aspects of the successful delivery of this extensive work package including, but not limited to, the management of the assembly of component parts, erection of boiler panels and associated duct-work and piping through to final commissioning and first operation. The selected individual will be responsible for the overall management of specialised subcontractors and liaising with internal design and field engineers and third party design partners to ensure a safe and quality installation for our client; ensures that all project requirements and expectations are met; manages, drives, coordinates and provides detailed reports on Subcontractors performance and cost; ensures adherence by all discipline Subcontractors to safety, quality, schedule, budget and performance expectations as defined by Black and Veatch; ensures schedule and project expectations are clearly defined to Subcontractors; ensures schedule requirements are communicated to all levels; coordinates interpretation of technical requirements; provides technical data and information, as required, to subcontractor supervision and/or Construction Engineers; and ensures compliance by subcontractor to all standards, procedures and contractual commitments within the bounds of all applicable policies.

  Key Responsibilities

  Overall management and delivery of the Boiler Package by partnering with the Construction, Commissioning and Site Manager in ensuring complete adherence by all site supervision and craft to the Black and Veatch Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned and Performance Management programs in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, and Guides. Is responsible for reporting inappropriate conduct by any site personnel to the site Construction manager and the project Safety manager.

  Manages, monitors, verifies and reports on construction and commissioning activities for compliance with the CPM schedule; tracks and reports on completion of project schedule activities and commodity installation.

  Manages and tracks against actual hours and cost against subcontractor budgetary hours and cost, and works with Project Controls providing detailed forecasted ongoing cost to complete

  Manages the disciplines within the overall B&V Boiler Supervision Team consisting of Supervisors/Superintendents, subcontractors, and craft in resolving problems and reports on issues related to drawings and information, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety.

  Monitors and drives discipline construction and commissioning productivity, progress, and cost, and works in conjunction with the Safety, Quality, Construction, Commissioning, Field Project Controls, Subcontractors and Site Managers. Takes necessary actions to set and maintain targets.

  Ensures competent and practical adherence to the Black & Veatch standards and lessons learned.

  Communicates issues and new project lessons learned in order that these issues be captured for possible future implementation.

  Conducts subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.

  Develops and monitors 4 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.

  Develops corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.

  Verifies that all material, manpower and other resources needed to support the 4 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.

  Develops, monitors, and reports on completion of craft/subcontractor punch list activities.

  Maintains a daily log for site records.

  Reviews all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.

  Monitors supplier Technical Service Representative (supplier) daily log and reviews/approves their timesheets.

  Communicates and coordinates assigned subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Superintendents and Construction Manager.

  Monitors assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract scope, budgeted hours and schedule requirements.

  Develops a stable working relationship with assigned subcontractor(s).

  Works with Field Subcontract Administrator in the preparation of all extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs).

  Works with the Field, Back Office and Third Party Supplier Engineering in the compilation of or answering Subcontractor Information Requests. Responsible for compiling and answering CIRs if required

  Creates and Administers the execution of work packages and equipment installation.

  Develops and distributes a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages within scope.

  Reviews and accepts Subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

  Identifies potential back charges and out of scope issues and in conjunction with the Construction and Subcontracts Manager. Supports commercial recovery process.

  Adhers to safety and quality standards.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree required with strong experienceon similar projects in construction management role with a minimum of several of experience as a manager/supervisor.

  No degree required with extensive experience with prior experience in aconstruction management or supervisory role on smaller projects.

  All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

  • May require work above 5 feet in height.

  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

  • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
