This position will be a goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated Billing Specialist. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: review and submission of claims, consistent follow up on unpaid claims, filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement and establish and maintain strong relationships with insurance, providers, patients, and co-workers. Upon successful completion of training period, this position will be in-person a minimum of one day per week and has the potential to be remote up to 4 days per week, depending on clinic needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Billing and Accounts Receivable Follow-Up (70%) Working knowledge of Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health claim benefits, clean claim submission, and reimbursement. Understanding of Government program guidelines on claim submission and reimbursement. Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies. Responsible for compliance and accuracy within billing guidelines. Regularly meet with supervisor to report issues or obstacles with regards to clean claim billing and to report trends or issues with insurance reimbursement. Account audits to ensure accuracy of billing. Effectively and professionally resolve unpaid or denied claims with insurance companies. Use insurance websites for claim status and appeals. Understanding of Coordination of Benefits (COB) including resubmissions or secondary billing of claims, corrected claims, void and replacement claims, and refiling to insurance. Other duties (20%) Responsible for professionalism and courteousness to patients and clinic staff, accepting payments, waiver review, estimated treatment costs, and questions on account. This role will be included in the billing team phone queue to assist patients with any billing questions, statements, and collecting payment. Ad hoc accounts receivable reports for projects. Attend team and company-wide meetings, ad hoc meetings, and one-on-one meetings with supervisor. Provide patients, providers, and clinic staff explanation of account balances, payment history, and insurance coverage as related to Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health. Work with HIM to provide billing record requests and/or completion of additional information that may be requested from the patient, insurance, or legal representative. Back-Up to Patient Financial Advisors at the clinic Other duties as assigned (10%) Salary Range: $23.30/hr ($48,464/annually) to $29.37/hr ($61,089.60/annually), depending on qualifications. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications High school diploma/GED and four years of general accounts transaction experience. Training may be substituted for some of the years of experience. Years of experience to include two years of healthcare claims reimbursement experience which must include a minimum of: Two years of customer service Two years of processing claims for a health-care entity One year in electronic claim adjudications Two years of computer experience in a professional working environment. Ability to edit, modify and create in computerized billing software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Epic, Dentrix and other programs. **A negative TB test is required for this position and Hepatitis B vaccine is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Epic EMR. Aptitude and/or interest in working with Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health patients, providers, clinic staff, and insurance companies on the phone in billing office setting and/or in person within a clinic setting. Flu ncy in one of CUHCC's predominant patient languages (Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Lao, Hmong). Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC). Experience with Sliding Scale Discount programs. Experience working remotely. Experience working in a community clinic.
