  Job Overview

  As part of the Clinical Resource (CR) Team, the Behavioral HealthSpecialist serves as a system-wide resource, providing direct patient careand safety including supervision and management of children and adolescents;performs duties under the direction of a registered nurse or licensedpsychiatric professional. This position may encounter potentially volatilecare situations that could result in bodily harm.This position floats to multiple areas across the organization including NorthCampus, South Campus, Anschutz campus units; psych ED, IPU, NSC,and all medical and critical care areas that require behavioral healthsupport.

  Department: Clinical Resource TeamHours per week: 36, eligible for benefitsShift: 12 hours shifts, straight nights, some weekend and holidaycoverage is required.

  Qualifications

  Education: Bachelor's degree with a minor in psychology or related fieldEquivalency: Professional relevant experience may substitute for thebachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.Certification(s): Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification

  POPULATION SPECIFIC CARENeonate - 30 days to 1yrToddlers - >1yr to 3yrsPre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrsSchool age - >5yrs to 13yrsAdolescent - >13yrs to 18yrsAdult - >18yrs to 65yrsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents whileunder the direction of a registered nurse or licensed psychiatricprofessional.Leads, monitors and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups forpatients.Participates in clinical rounds, maintains communication with unit ordepartment leadership.Responds as part of the Behavioral Assistance Resource Team; providesassistance to patients, family members or visitors 18 years of age andyounger exhibiting the potential for harm to self or others.Ensures proper documentation o patient progress; completes 15-minutepatient checks; provides one-to-one patient observation and or milieumanagement.Assists new hires as required.Attends educational in-services for Behavior Specialists; participates inunit committees and educational offerings.Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unitsafety.Provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.
