  Position Purpose

  This position is responsible for routine processing of eggs and day old poults in the Hatchery including a clean work environment, basic manual labor.

  nature & Scope

  Select Genetics, presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation.  Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States. The Back Crew Laborer provides support for the process function in the Hatchery.  The position reports to and is supervised by the management.

  The Back Crew Laborer follows hatching and processing protocols of a day old poults including but not limited to: hatch pull, poults counts, stacking boxes and sanitizing the work place. Within this process will be the expectation of consistent cleanliness and animal welfare standards being upheld. The Back Crew Laborer carries out all directives in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.  All Company information will be handled with complete confidentiality.

  Work requires frequent bending, standing, and walking. Work is subject to tight deadlines and interruptions.  The work environment includes exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes and varying temperatures. The Laborer must be physically able to lift and/or push and handle up to 50 lbs. frequently during the day. The Laborer can be asked to train in multiple departments and rotate departments based on Company’s needs.

  Principal Accountabilities

  Follow the direction of the Back Crew supervisor.

  Adhere to all company policies and procedures, business ethics codes, and all applicable federal and state regulations.

  Follow strict attendance policy.

  Active listening and customer service orientation skills

  Deductive/Inductive reasoning skills

  Must have good hand eye coordination.

  Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  Follow the directives of the Area Supervisor.

  Follow all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.

  Valid State driver’s license preferred.

  Experience with live animals preferred.

  Additional required skills and abilities include; attention to detail; communication skills including verbal and listening; the ability to read and interpret company policies and procedures, the ability to communicate and interact productively with all employees; the ability to work under pressure; and, the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.  

  Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen is required.
