We are looking for a talented Axle Technician to join our team for our location in York, SC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
The basic function of the material handler is to unload, move and store a variety of materials and parts; unload incoming materials, report shortages, move to the proper storage area, store, stack and arrange for use.
To build front and rear dressed axles for Freightliner. Axles, including brakes, must be built according to the schedule and in time to satisfy the customer’s delivery requirements. Job will include sub-assembling and complete assembling front and rear dressed axles.
Following all site safety rules and safe operating practices.
Adhering to all work instructions and inventory control responsibilities as needed.
Meeting all site attendance expectations.
Being and active and engaged participant in the site CI efforts including employee suggestion implementation and active participation in PIE events.
Report all accidents and near miss incidents immediately.
Maintain excellent housekeeping at all times.
Operator may be required to run various pneumatic tools and hoists.
Be an effective team member and help other operators within the Team when needed. Working as a team member is essential to the successful operation of the Team.
Operators may be asked to perform more than one function per day to assist material flow.
Must be able to work required overtime as scheduled.
Job function may require candidate to train new employees.
Assemble parts by using torque guns and/or hand tools.
Pull parts for use in production by reading work order and obtaining parts from properly labeled bins, crates or boxes.
Assure parts meet quality specs by using visual inspection and reading various gages.
Apply parts to fully construct dressed axles by following written work instructions and/or properly demonstrated techniques as shown by trainers.
Add grease and/or oil to products by operating automatic greasing/oiling guns.
Troubleshoot work-related problems by discussing issues with other dressed axle technicians or the line leader.
Assure questionable parts are okay by looking at pictures included with work instructions.
Verify truck number by checking tag on axle for proper information.
Assure job tasks for production line are completed by signing off on zone duty.
Label non-conforming products by filling out tags and placing on defective parts and placing in proper location.
Sign off conforming parts on AQAR.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
6 months previous Manufacturing Experience preferred
Lifting and carrying parts up to sixty-five (65) pounds up to ten (10) hours per day.
Grasping and moving parts of various size up to ten (10) hours per day.
Walking and standing up to ten (10) hours per day.
Repeated bending, twisting, stooping several hours per day.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in either a group setting or individually.
Ability and willingness to operate necessary equipment.
Ability to work 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:20 PM (M-F)
Occasional overtime as business requires.
Pay starting at $17/HR $0.50/HR Shift Differential
