As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will provide professional Systems Engineering leadership for the design of cutting-edge rugged electronics products that display, compute, control, distribute, record, and integrate video and data on air, land and sea-borne platforms. You will ensure compliance to company objectives and customer requirements. In this role, you have the opportunity to communicate designs and alternatives with customers, and translate the customer’s decisions into quantifiable, detailed, verifiable requirements that support delivery of the desired customer solution. Duties and Responsibilities: * Technical interface, collaborate with the Technical Program Manager, Product Management group and Internal/External Customer to understand their requests, define product solutions and systems integration opportunities considering operational constraints and new functions required * Translate conceptual design presented by the customer into detailed, achievable, testable, approved requirements for design by the Engineering Team * Manage requirements, their traceability and allocation from customer specification down to verification of compliance to all customer requirements, ensuring the design meets defined customer request * Assist in or lead proposals preparation providing inputs to the technical response, non-recurring and recurring costs estimation and compliance statement to the customer requirements * Guide the engineering team in defining products which will meet the program objectives for technical requirements, program/products costs and execution within the program schedule * Write specifications and interface documents formalizing the system content, interfaces and features * Conduct studies and perform analysis related to the products and systems * Develop product testing requirements and support the Test Engineering team to develop systems and products qualification test plans and procedures * Serve as IPT Engineering Lead for customer and internal projects * Coordinate technical inputs for project/product design reviews * Collaborate with Technical Writer as needed on product documentation including: System/Product Specifications, System Requirements Documentation (Descriptions/Specifications), Declarations of Design and Performance, Operator Manuals, Collateral Material * Assess design changes for impact on System and Product level requirements, form, fit and function through the design change process * Be the expert for fielded systems related requests and inquiries * Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in systems, electrical, mechanical or software engineering or related field required * 8+ years of experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment in aerospace * 8+ years of experience in requirements generation and management * Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) * Professional attitude and appearance toward customer and co-workers * Able to multitask and manage multiple projects at one time * Experience with requirements management & flow down, configuration management * Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) * Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work * Exceptional handling of customer communications * Knowledge of requirements management tools * Experience with MS Office including Word, Excel & Project * Candidate must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Military and Commercial Programs preferred * Proposal preparation & FAR knowledge preferred * Knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 preferred Physical Requirements * Engineering office environment * Be able to lift and handle displays and tooling weighing up to 25 lbs * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Travel Requirements: · Travel is limited (15%) This position requires you to access information that is subject to U.S. export regulations.
