  Summary This position is located at FMWR Susquehanna Automotive Center. Responsibilities Identifies improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment. Determine whether parts should be cleaned or replaced. Install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed product. Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components. Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used. Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship. Decides on the methods and techniques to use. Supervisor is available for assistance with unusual problems. Work is reviewed in terms of results obtained. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications 1. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move object over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices) 2. Possess a. valid motor vehicle operators permit. 3. Have work experience performing the identified duties. 4. Be able to work independently. Highly Preferred Criteria: 1. Possession of valid State Inspection and Emissions certificates. Note: Resume must reflect the qualifications stated in the announcement and assessment/questionnaire. If a highly preferred applicant is not selected for the position then the selection official will receive another referral list consisting of applicants who met the minimal qualification standards. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
