The Manufacturing Automation Enhancement Project aims to improve and optimize the manufacturing processes by leveraging automation technologies. As an Automation Engineer, you will lead this project to achieve increased efficiency, reduced operational costs, and enhance product quality. The goal of this internship is creating a software interface with our automated cable cut, strip, and label machinery that integrates with our action logging database and build schedule.
This is a paid internship and has a start date of mid-May and ends in mid-late August 2024.
Job Responsibilities - About the role - you'll need to:
• Research COM communication to facilitate software control over the machinery.
• Develop a robust program process flow minimizing possible user error.
• Create a user-friendly front-end interface for users to run jobs.
• Optimize user-interface to minimize user touch time.
• Validate program functionality and implement error handling.
• Integrate software with existing frameworks and databases.
Required Skills - About you - you'll need:
• Actively enrolled in a Software Engineering degree program
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Strong understanding of C# or similar strongly typed object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience with Microsoft VB.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work independently and maintain schedule to meet milestones and timelines.
