WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Associate Director of Development, Caribbean (ADOD) is asenior-level fundraising position which develops, implements, andmanages effective multi-year strategies and plans for the cultivationand solicitation of gift prospects, with a particular focus onindividual donors and/or family offices and foundations. The ADOD willidentify and engage new individual prospective donors who are currentlyaffiliated and unaffiliated with TNC and seek to motivate them to investin TNC\'s conservation mission in support of our work across theCaribbean. The ADOD will develop qualification, cultivation,solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of donorsinterested in supporting TNC\'s conservation efforts in this region andin collaboration with TNC\'s executive, conservation, and fundraisingleadership and with TNC\'s network of committed volunteer leaders,donors, partners and friends. . The donors managed by the ADOD willrequire sophisticated relationship management, a high degree ofknowledge of assets and ownership structures, and an expertunderstanding of the factors influencing philanthropic giving. They willfocus on long-range strategic priorities and be responsible for donorstrategy and proposal development, working with conservation anddevelopment staff, as well as donors, to create transformational givingopportunities. The ADOD reports to the Director, Regional StrategicDevelopment, and will be a member of the World Office Global DevelopmentTeam. They will be part of a cross-cutting global team focused onengaging global citizens in wealth centers around the world who areseeking to improve conservation and environmental outcomes, for bothpeople and nature. The ADOD will have a strong dotted line to theExecutive Director of the Caribbean Division and work closely with otherleaders within the Division.
The ADOD understands and applies complex principles of developing donorstrategies and builds strong relationships with a portfolio of new andcurrent donors and prospects. The ADOD will cultivate donors from annualgiving to major / principal or planned gifts. They will be responsiblefor direct asks in suppo t of Caribbean Division priorities to meetfunding needs. They discuss assets proficiently and listen foropportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such asplanned gifts and trade lands. They will incorporate blended gifts andgifts of assets in proposals to donors. They are capable of discussingthe priorities of TNC writ large and in the Caribbean. They understandorganizational budgets and are proficient utilizing this knowledge tobuild proposal budgets. They have knowledge of charitable giving with afocus on high-net-worth individuals and the ability to discuss complexcharitable gift options with donors. They will work across globalmarkets and other business units, with a focus on raising funds forTNC\'s Caribbean Division. They will work across Conservancy chaptersand programs and manage a referral network. The ADOD will staffleadership as a moves manager as appropriate and participate in theCaribbean Division\'s staff Leadership Council. They will manageassigned trustee relationships and/or volunteer engagement. They will berequired to use TNC\'s donor database.
