Student Affairs Technology serves as the IT department for a variety ofStudent Affairs units on the campus to provide better efficiency,broader support, and operational resiliency, as well as create richeremployment environment for the IT staff. Job Summary
The Associate Director for Medical and Mental Health Systems andCompliance has specific unit responsibilities associated with managingthe technology team primarily dedicated to McKinley Health Center and tothe Counseling Center and is the Student Affairs Technology Liaison forthose units. It also has broad functional responsibilities for ensuringthat Student Affairs Technology handles health information in a secureand compliant way for all Student Affairs units. This position hasresponsibility representing student health and wellness concerns oncampus in areas related to technology.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leads efforts to coordinate secure and compliant handling of healthinformation and operation of medical and mental health systemsacross Student Affairs Technology.Participates as a member of Student Affairs Technology leadershipteam, providing expertise and strategic vision as part of thatcollaborative team.Participates in McKinley Health Center Senior Leadership teamstrategic and operational activities to assure the IT needs ofMcKinley are met. This includes regular meetings with the Director,Associate Directors, and other management staff at McKinley toadvise and recommend IT solutions and system improvements.Provides guidance and oversight for technology staff supporting theneeds of the Counseling Center to ensure proper security and safekeeping of mental health records.Supervises a team of technical staff members supporting thetechnology and telecommunications needs for McKinley Health Centerand the Counseling Center including setting priorities, balancingconflicting demands and ensuring staff development.Develops and tracks the technology budgets for both McKinley HealthCenter and the Counseling Center in cooperation with the businessmanagers for each unit.Reviews processes and procedures to ensure a stable and consistentservice for McKinley Health Center and the Counseling Centerincluding the development of backup strategies and disaster recoveryplans.Collaborates with other units in Student Affairs, TechnologyServices at Illinois, and Administrative Information TechnologySystems to support technology needs in student health for StudentAffairs Technology.Perform other duties as assigned to further the mission of StudentAffairs.Additional Physical Demands
Most work will be accomplished in a typical office environment buttravel to different locations around campus will be required. A hybridwork schedule can be supported for this position but it cannot be fullyremote.
Due to project timelines and business needs, including on callresponsibility for emergent issues, weekend and evening work may berequired.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Student AffairsTechnology for the unit responsibility as Liaison to both McKinleyHealth Center and the Counseling Center, with responsibilities forCampus IT Governance, and the functional responsibility of ensuringcompliance for health information and medical and mental health systemsoperations for all of Student Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degreeSeven years of experience in a management or leadership role for anIT unit with responsibility for at least three of the followingareas: software development, data management, networks, servers,desktop, web site, or telephony.Strong knowledge of industry developments, business practices, andtechnical details of supporting IT operations including the abilityto interpret HIPAA requirements.Practical project management experience or formal certification inproject management.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing withtechnical and non-technical personnel.Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise professional staffincluding team-building skills.Strong organization and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to work with and appreciate people from diversebackgrounds.Preferred Qualifications
