  Georgetown’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) (https://studenthealth.georgetown.edu/mission-statement/) serves as the university’s primary mental health agency for its students and campus community. Our central mission is to collaborate directly with students to help them find ways in which to overcome difficulties that may interfere with the definition and accomplishment of their educational, personal, and career goals. Accordingly, CAPS strives to provide students with opportunities to develop greater self-understanding, identify and solve problems, and improve academic performance through the alleviation of psychological, emotional, and cognitive impediments. Our mission often extends beyond the consultation room and into the campus community. Through outreach, partnerships, and consultation initiatives to faculty, staff, parents, and other campus offices, CAPS seeks to promote psychological health as a value to the Georgetown community.

  Job Overview

  The Associate Director of Diversity Initiatives oversees the department’s diversity and multicultural initiatives, including vision (strategic planning) and policy considerations as it relates to clinical service delivery with an emphasis on marginalized student populations. These populations include but are not limited to: international, African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, LGBTQ+, & students with disabilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  Play a central role in building collaborations between CAPS and its many stakeholders, especially OSEI; in establishing departmental DEI programs; in building accountability among leadership and staff around DEI values; and in assessing student needs in an effort to provide equitable and inclusive service.

  Facilitate the professional development programming for staff and trainees regarding ongoing cultural responsiveness, attention to context, and centering intersectionality as it pertains to service delivery, training, and internal operations in line with upholding the multicultural, ethical, and professional standards of all disciplines represented within the department.

  Serve as the direct supervisor of several staff members - specifically, those who serve in embedded role(s) and/or satellite offices whose primary charge is to support marginalized student populations, such as first-generation, low income, African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, LGBTQ+, international, & students with varied documentation & ability statuses; and they provide clinical supervision of unlicensed staff.

  Engage meaningfully with leadership and campus partners at the university and division levels to advise, collaborate, and enhance campus climate - serving as the expert on the intersections of student wellness and DEI; and facilitate the creation of – and ongoing relationships with - the CAPS Student Advisory Board.

  Steer the department in its endeavors to recruit, attract, and retain a diverse staff & trainee classes, in collaboration with the Director of CAPS; and engage in the delivery of direct psychotherapy, outreach, consultation, and emergency services to Main Campus students and consultations to deans, faculty, staff and parents.

  Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

  Reporting to the Director of CAPS, the Associate Director for Diversity Initiatives supervises as many as 4 FTE at the Main Campus CAPS office – that is, 1-2 FTE embedded within OSEI, 1 FTE in Medical Center, & 1 FTE in the Department of Athletics). They are part of the larger Georgetown CAPS program of mental health services. CAPS provides a broad range of confidential psychological & psychiatric services as well as consultation about student issues to deans, faculty, staff, & parents/families.

  This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.   Requirements and Qualifications

  Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology

  Licensure or license-eligibility as a psychologist in the District of Columbia
