SUMMARY
The Center for Student Success (CSS) at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine provides (Rowan-Virtua SOM) medical students with academic and career advising services in years one through four. CSS prides itself on being highly collaborative advocates who are deeply invested in the success of all students. The Associate Director is a full-time professional who provid es strategic leadership for the Center for Student Success . This pos ition wi ll aid the Director in develop ing and manag ing CSS programming for medical students at the Stratford and Sewe ll campuses. This position will also provide direct support to the Director , including budgeting, training, hiring, and evaluati ng student support services. This position will primarily be stationed at the Rowan-Virtua SOM – Sewell campus location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and provide ongoing support for professional staff, including an academic advisor and staff assistant.
Oversee the management of the tutoring program, which requires the hiring and supervising of approximately 100 student employees.
Supervise CSS staff assistant responsible for coordinating the tutoring program. Serve as a proxy to the staff assistant in the hiring process, payroll, and daily management of the program.
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Pre-Matriculation Program for incoming first - year students, including recruitment, hiring , and supervision of program staff and program execution and evaluation.
Develop, deliver, and oversee a wide range of academic services and programming based on student needs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for academic advising, resources, and support for students transitioning from undergraduate/graduate education to medical education.
Evaluate students' specific needs by gathering background information through self-identifying reports, assessments, and individual meetings. Identify students who meet at-risk criteria and provide targeted advising and support.
Monitor students' grades to determine academic status (Academic Monitoring, Academic Warning, and Academic Probation).
Design personalized student plans to enhance academic success.
Administer and interpret learning assessments.
Represent CSS across the SOM campus on several campus committees, including but not limited to the Student Academic Progress Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Student Affairs Committee.
Regularly collaborate with other university departments and faculty to implement improvements to CSS programming and manage issues that may arise.
Stay abreast of current literature and best practices to assess and improve student learning at Rowan-Virtua SOM.
Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in psychology, counseling, education, or a related field. Minimum 2 years' experience providing student advising services and programming with at-risk student populations within a higher education setting. Experienced in managing student programs. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills. Highly collaborative, innovative, motivated, and strong work ethic.
The following qualifications are preferred but not required: Experience in advising pre-medical students, medical students or graduate students. Experience with coordinating and/or overseeing a summer bridge or pre-matriculation program.
Experience with diverse populations. Record of respect and openness towards people whose social and cultural background is different from one’s own. Ability to recognize and manage one’s behaviors and communication to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment within the department/organization.
